The Annual Migration:

Reloading Windows because its too "clogged up".
That's Right.
I recommended reloading your system once a year because many of the
problems of running a wee little computer on the mean, green Internet is hazardous at best.
For those of us that love to install and uninstall software, visit sites,
try freeware, shareware, fonts, RSS feeds and newsletter subscriptions,
the stuff that winds up on our connected systems these days is incredible.
The XP HOME and Professional that came with your computer:
It doesn't upgrade your system.
It installs a "parallel" installation of Redmond goodies next to your
existing Windows 95/98/ME files.
What does this mean?
That you wind up with a "MultiBoot" situation.
And you have BOTH 98 and XP on your system.
And your MS Office is still only "active" on the 98 side.
YIKES!
Sure, you can access both 98 and XP versions of Windows, but that's
about all. You can't use MS Word in XP unless you install Office again in XP land.
So how do you do that?
But - Do you WANT TO?
Not really!
You really want to have ONE version of Windows with ONE version of all your
Programs, and all your data files right?
Right!
So, how do you do this without the XP upgrade version?
AHHHH.........the annual migration.
This involves backing up all your important files and
RELOADING XP FROM SCRATCH.
